Installing
Note
Renew gaskets and seals.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:
WARNING
Wear eye protection.
–
Remove sealant remaining on oil sump and the engine block (with rotating plastic brush or similar).
–
Clean sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.
Note
t
Observe use-by date of sealant.
t
The sump must be installed within 5 minutes after applying the silicone sealant.
–
Cut off tube nozzle at upper marking (nozzle approx. approx. 3 mm).
–
Apply silicone sealing compound → Parts Catalogue to the clean contact surface of the oil sump, as shown in the figure. The strip of sealant must:
t
2...3 mm thick.
t
Run bead along inner side of bolt holes -arrows-.
Note
The sealing length should not be thicker, if so, sealant may get on the oil sump, obstructing the collector of the suction tube of the oil pump.
–
Apply the silicone-based sealant to the clean contact surface of the oil sump, proceeding as shown. In doing so, proceed as displayed in the figure (In the figure, the location of the length of sealant on the cylinder block is shown).
–
Fit the oil sump immediately tightening lightly all of the attachment bolts.
Note
The oil sump must be flush with the engine block.
–
Tighten the oil sump attachment bolts to a torque of: 15 Nm.
