t  Fitting position of fuel delivery unit flange → Fig.
t  Checking breather valve → Fig.
   
1 - Fuel tank plug
2 - 1.5 Nm
3 - Filler cap set
q   Removing and fitting: → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.55
4 - Gravity/overflow valve
q   In order to reach the gravity / pressure release valve, remove the fuel tank cover assembly → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.55
q   To remove, release locking lug and unclip valve upwards out of filler neck.
q   Check valve flow continuity. Valve vertical: open, valve at an angle of (45 °): closed.
5 - Earth connection
q   Check for secure seating
6 - 10 Nm
7 - Breather line
q   Clipped into upper part of fuel tank
q   Check for secure seating
8 - 25 Nm
9 - Fuel tank
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
10 - tension belt
11 - Fuel delivery unit
q   Note installation position of flange on fuel tank → Fig..
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Checking fuel pump → Chapter.
q   With fuel level sender -G-
q   Removing and installing fuel gauge sender → Chapter.
q   Clean strainer if dirty
12 - Seal
q   If this is damaged, replace it
q   Moisten with fuel for installation
13 - Lock nut
q   Remove and install with key -U-40055A-
14 - Supply pipe
q   For the fuel filter
q   Inserted in the fuel tank → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.55
q   Check for secure seating
q   Black
q   To pull off flange, press release button on connecting piece.
15 - Return pipe
q   To fuel radiator
q   Blue colour or blue mark
q   Inserted on the fuel tank
q   Check for secure seating
q   To pull off flange, press release button on connecting piece.
16 - Vent valve
q   Checking → Fig.
q   In order to reach the air valve, remove the fuel tank cover assembly → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.55
q   Before fitting, unscrew the cap
17 - O ring
q   If this is damaged, replace it

   
Fitting position of fuel delivery unit flange
Mark on flange must align with mark on fuel tank -arrows-.
Return line -1- (blue or with blue marking) to connection marked -R-.
Black supply pipe -2- to connection with -V- .
  Note
After installing fuel delivery unit flange, check that the supply, return and breather pipes are still clipped onto the fuel tank.

Checking breather valve
Lever in rest position: closed.
Lever pressed in the -direction of the arrow-: open.
  Note
Before installing vent valve remove fuel tank cap.
