t  Drip tray for workshop hoist -VAS 6208-

t  Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782-
»Carry out the following work sequence«
Removal:
–  Remove engine cover panel → Chapter.
–  Remove cowling → Chapter.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Remove 4/2-way valve → Chapter.

–  Remove oil filter element.

–  Release hose clip -1- and detach coolant hose.

–  Remove bolts -arrows-.
–  Separate the engine oil cooler from its holder on the housing.
Installation
  Note
t  Replace: Replace gaskets, seals and O-rings.
t  Hose connections and air pipes and hoses must be free from oil and grease before fitting.
t  Fix: all hose unions with hose clamps the same as those of the series → Spare parts catalogue.
Installation is in the reverse sequence of removal.

–  Without applying oil, fit the new seals in the lugs -arrow- in the oil filter holder.
–  Carefully slide engine oil cooler onto centring pins.

–  Press oil cooler on until it is flush -1- with end of centring pins.
–  Fit new bolts and screw in until heads make contact.

–  Tighten bolts -arrows- diagonally in 3 stages.
t  Step 1: Screw in hand-tight
t  Step 2: Tighten to 5 Nm
t  Step 3: Tighten to 11 Nm
–  Install oil filter element, replenish engine oil and check oil level → Chapter.
–  Replenish coolant in cooling system, change coolant if engine oil cooler has been renewed → Chapter.
