  Note
t  After working on the exhaust system, ensure that the system is not under stress and that there is sufficient clearance to the bodywork.
t  If necessary, loosen double and single clamps and align silencers and exhaust pipe so that sufficient clearance is maintained to the bodywork and the support rings are evenly loaded → Chapter.
t  After replacing the particulate filter or the pressure differential sender -G505-, the pressure differential sender -G505- must be adapted using the Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 505X- in all cases. Guided functions; Adapt pressure differential sender -G505-.
t  Removing and installing exhaust manifold with turbocharger → Chapter.
t  The flexible joint in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10° - otherwise it can be damaged.
t  Renew seals, gaskets and self-locking nuts.
   
1 - Differential pressure sender -G505-
  Caution
Risk of damage
t  The differential pressure sender -G505- is very sensitive. When putting down when the hoses are connected, take care that they are not exposed to impacts.
t  Only pull hoses off differential pressure sender -G505- if it has to be replaced.
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
2 - 3 Nm
3 - Control connection
4 - Clamps
5 - Exhaust gas temperature sender 4 -G648-
q   45 Nm
q   Lubricate thread of sender using high-temperature paste -G 052 112 A3-.
q   To remove and install, use wrench T10395/6.
q   Tighten with wrench T10395/6 → Chapter
6 - Lambda probe -G39-
q   52 Nm
q   Grease only thread with high-temperature paste -G 052 112 A3-. The high-temperature paste -G 052 112 A3- must not get into the slots on the probe body.
q   To remove use Lambda probe open ring spanner set -3337-.
7 - Heat shield
8 - 9 Nm
9 - Particle filter
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
10 - Seal
q   Replace
q   Note fitting position:
11 - Clip
q   7 Nm
12 - Nuts
q   25 Nm
13 - Bolts
q   25 Nm
14 - Spring retainer
q   Bolted to cylinder block
15 - Exhaust gas temperature sender 3 -G495-
q   45 Nm
q   Lubricate thread of sender using high-temperature paste -G 052 112 A3-.
q   Use the Tool set -T100395- for removal.
16 - Spring retainer
17 - 25 Nm
18 - Spring retainer
q   For pressure differential sender -G505-.

   
Installation position of clamp
–  Position double clamp at distance -a- = 5 mm from marking on front exhaust pipe.
