Throttle valve control unit -J338-: verification
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Manual multimeter -VAG 1526C- or digital multimeter -VAG 1715-
t  Auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C-
t  Adapter cable -VAG 1598/31-

t  Adapter cable -VAG 1598/22-
t  Current flow diagrams, electrical fault finding and fitting locations
  Note
t  The engine with the identification letters BXV and BBM uses the Simos 9.1 management system, which has 80 pin connectors, and to carry out the corresponding checks the engine tester -VAG 1598/22- must be used.
t  If the throttle valve control part is replaced, the new control part must without fail be adapted to the engine control unit → Chapter.
Test prerequisites
l  Throttle neither damaged nor dirty.
l  Coolant temperature, 80 °C minimum.

Checking sequence
  E24-0200
–  Remove engine protection together with air filter -arrows-, separate the gas vent pipe from the engine.
  E24-0200
–  Pull 6-pin connector off the throttle valve control unit -J338--arrow-.
  E24-0201
–  Measure the throttle valve drive resistance between contacts 3 + 5.
t  Specification: 1,0 ... 5.0 Ω.
If specification is not obtained:
–  Replace the Throttle valve control unit -J338-
If result matches specification:
–  Check voltage supply of throttle valve control unit and wiring to control unit → Chapter.
If there are no faults in the voltage supply or wiring:
–  Replace the engine control unit → Chapter.
