General notes on injection
t  If the fuel system has been opened it must be purged before starting the engine .
t  The engine control unit -J623- is equipped with self-diagnosis. Before carrying out repairs and fault finding, the fault memory must be interrogated. Also the vacuum hoses and connections must be checked (unmetered air).
t  Fuel hoses in engine compartment must only be secured with spring-type clips. The use of clamp or screw-type clips is not permissible.
t  For trouble-free operation of the electrical components a voltage of at least 11.5 V is necessary
t  Do not use sealants containing silicone. Particles of silicone drawn into the engine, will not be burnt in the engine and damage the Lambda probe.
t  If the engine starts, runs for a short period and then stops, after fault finding, repairs or component tests, then the fault may lie with the immobiliser blocking the engine control unit. In this case the control unit must be adapted „Guided functions“.
t  In some tests the control unit may detect and store an error. Therefore after completing all checks and repairs the fault memory must be read and if necessary cleared.
t  If the fault memory has been erased, you must generate the readiness code again
t  The vehicles are fitted with a crash/fuel shut-off system. It reduces the danger of a fire in a crash as the fuel pump is switched off via the fuel pump relay. At the same time, this system also improves the engine's starting performance. When the door is opened, the fuel pump is activated for 2 seconds in order to build up pressure in the fuel system.
