Removing and installing radiator fan thermal switch -F18-
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Refractometer -T10007-
t  Drip tray for workshop hoist -VAS 6208-
t  Hose clip pliers -VAS 6340-
t  Coolant charger -VAS 6096-
t  Adapter for cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274/8-

   
t  Refractometer -T10007 A-
Carry out the following work:
Removal:
Fitting location: → Item
  WARNING
Steam may be released when opening the expansion tank. Wear eye protection and protective clothing to avoid eye injuries and scalding. Cover the cap with a cloth and open carefully.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
  W00-10827
–  Unlock and disconnect connector -1- from radiator fan thermal switch -F18--2-.
–  Unscrew radiator fan thermal switch -F18--2-.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse sequence of removal. Note the following:

Renew seal.
–  Fill up with coolant → Chapter.
  N19-10762
Tightening torque:
ComponentSpecified torque .
Thermal switch to radiator50 Nm
