  Note
t  If an exchange cylinder head is installed, all the contact surfaces between the supporting elements, roller rocker fingers and the running surfaces of the camshaft must be oiled before the cylinder head cover is installed.
t  The plastic packing pieces for protecting the open valves must not be removed until immediately before fitting cylinder head.
t  When fitting a new cylinder head or cylinder head gasket, drain off all the old coolant and re-fill with new coolant.
Removing and installing cylinder head → Chapter.
   
1 - 10 Nm and then turn 180° further
q   Replace
q   Observe tightening sequence → Chapter.
2 - Camshaft control valve 1 -N205-
3 - 8 Nm.
4 - 10 Nm and then turn 180° further
q   Replace
q   Observe tightening sequence → Chapter.
5 - Hall sender -G40-
6 - 8 Nm.
7 - Oil seal
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
8 - 8 Nm.
9 - Toothed belt cover
10 - Poly-V belt
q   For coolant pump
11 - 20 Nm.
12 - Toothed belt pulley
q   For coolant pump drive
13 - 8 Nm.
14 - Sealing cap
15 - O ring
q   Replace if damaged
16 - 8 Nm.
17 - Coolant temperature sender -G62-
18 - Cylinder head
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
19 - Seal
q   Replace
20 - Cylinder head bolt
q   Replace
q   Follow installation instructions and sequence when loosening and tightening → Chapter.
21 - ATF strainer
q   Replace
22 - Seal
q   Replace
23 - Camshaft housing
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
  Note
t  The camshafts cannot be removed.
t  If repair is required, the camshaft housing and the camshafts need to be renewed as a complete unit.

   
Checking cylinder head for distortion
Check with 500 mm straight edge -VAS 6075- and feeler gauge -1-.
Maximum permissible deformation: 0.05 mm
