Removing
–  Observe safety precautions before beginning removal work → Chapter.
–  Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter
  Note
To carry out this work it will be necessary to disconnect the battery earth strap. The vehicle should be checked for a fitted radio. If necessary, obtain radio anti-theft code first.
–  With the ignition switched off, disconnect the battery earth strap.
–  Remove cover from fuel tank filler neck and unscrew the cap from the fuel tank.
–  Drain fuel tank, clean fuel filler and surrounding area.
–  Rock the rear seat forward.
–  Remove cover from fuel supply unit under rear seat.
   
–  Remove connector from flange -1-.
–  Remove activated charcoal filter → Chapter.
–  Remove the lower protection from the fuel tank.
–  Remove all rear exhaust system brackets. Then lower the exhaust system a little, securing it to the bodywork with wire.
–  Remove rear axle → Rep. Gr.42.

–  Separate the fuel supply and breather pipes -1- and -2- press buttons on hose couplings to do this.
  WARNING
Fuel supply hoses are under pressure. Before removing fuel hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully removing the hose.
–  Remove tensioning strap. When doing this support fuel tank with engine/gearbox jack -SAT 1040-.
–  Remove fuel tank.
