l  -V.A.G 1318- pressure gauge device, connected.
Checking process
  Note!
This test also checks the watertightness of the fuel supply hose connections, from the supply unit to the point of connection for the pressure measuring device -V.A.G 1318-.

–  Close the valve of the pressure measuring device (lever perpendicular to flow position -B-).
–  Operate the remote control with successive brief pulses until the manometer shows a pressure of 3 bar.
  Caution
Danger of splashing when valve is opened; place a receptacle in front of the open connection of the manometer.
–  Drain any possible excessive pressure carefully opening the valve.
–  Observe the drop in pressure on the manometer. After 10 minutes, the pressure should not fall below 2.5 bar.
If the drop in pressure continues:
–  Check the airtightness of the connections.
If no fault is detected in the cables:
–  Faulty fuel pump; renew the fuel supply unit → Chapter; Fuel supply unit: removing and installing.
