Engine number
Engine number

The engine number (“Code letters” and “Serial number”) can be found on the front by the joint between engine/gearbox.
The engine number is made up of up to nine symbols (alphanumerical). The first part (a maximum of three code letters) represents the “engine code letters”, the second (six figures) the “correlative number”. If more than 999,999 engines have been manufactured with the same code letters, the first figure is replaced by a letter.
Additionally there is a sticker on the toothed belt guard with “Engine code” and “Serial number”.
The engine code is also included on the vehicle data plate.
