Removing
Removing
–  First check whether a coded radio is fitted, and if so, consult the anti-theft code.
–  With the ignition switched off, disconnect the battery earth strap.

–  Remove air cleaner. To do this, remove the securing bolts signalled by the -arrows-.
  Note!
t  When the securing bolts are loosened or tightened using a power tool, the threads in the inlet tube may be damaged. For this reason, only use a power tool in the following conditions:
t  Maximum revolutions of tool, 200/min
t  maximum tightening torque 3 Nm
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Loosen clips and pull coolant hoses off coolant thermostat housing.
–  Loosen or separate the following components:
t  Central connector
t  The accelerator cable.
t  Terminal 4 high tension cable, from ignition distributor.
t  The flexible hose that leads to the activated charcoal filter system, through the suspension turret connector.
t  The vacuum hose from inlet manifold to brake servo.
t  The battery earth strap that leads to the ignition transformer, via the support.
t  The knock sensor double connector (cylinder block, rear part).
–  Disconnect fuel supply and fuel return pipes at the connector in the suspension turret. Because the fuel system is under pressure, a cloth should be placed around the connection before removing the flexible hoses.
–  Seal the pipes so that the fuel system is not contaminated by dirt etc.
–  Remove the front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
–  Remove ribbed belt → Chapter.
–  Remove the crankshaft pulley and the toothed belt lower and upper guards.
–  Loosen the tensioning roller from the toothed belt and remove the belt.
–  Separate the camshaft sprocket from the toothed belt. To do this, immobilise the camshaft by bracing the sprocket with retention tool -T20018A-.
–  Separate the lower toothed belt guard from the cylinder head.
Pull the clamp which secure the coolant pipe to coolant pump from the thermostat housing.
–  Remove cylinder head cover
