Removing
Removing
–  Observe safety precautions before beginning installation work → Chapter.
–  First check whether a coded radio is fitted, and if so, consult the anti-theft code.
–  With the ignition switched off, disconnect the battery earth strap.
Commercial vehicles
–  Partially separate the front part of the lining carpet in the loading area.
   
–  Extract underbody protection plates -3-.
–  Separate the reinforcing cross member.
Kombi vehicles
–  Rock the rear seat forward.

–  Remove the cover from the fuel delivery unit.

–  Separate the connector -1-.
–  Separate fuel supply and return pipes -3- and -4- leading to the fuel rail.
  Caution
Fuel supply pipes are under pressure. Before removing the hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling the hose off.

–  Remove union nut with tool -U-40055A-.

–  Remove fuel delivery unit To do so, it is necessary to turn the assembly to the left with tool -U-40073-, until it is released from its lower mounting (bayonet style).
  Note!
If the delivery unit is to be renewed then drain old delivery unit before disposal.
