Checking valve guides

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Universal dial gauge holder -T20020-

t	Dial gauge

Test sequence

–	Insert a new valve into the guide until, the end of the valve stem is flush with the end of the valve guide. Due to the slight differences in length of the valve stems, ensure only an inlet valve is used in an inlet guide and an exhaust valve is only used in an exhaust valve guide.

–	Determine valve rock. Wear limit: 0.8 mm
