Removing   Caution Engine at room temperature, at most.   Note t  All the cable fixings that are opened or cut during removal of the engine must be fitted at the same place when reinstalling the engine. t  Pay attention to coding (obtain as necessary) for vehicles with coded radio/radio navigation system (RNS). –  With ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap. –  Empty coolant → Chapter. –  Remove intake manifold → Chapter. –  Remove the air filter housing → Chapter. –  Removing the cylinder head cover → Chapter.

–  Detach connector -arrows- of the variable distribution system solenoid valve “N205”.

–  Remove the bolts -arrows- of the coolant sealing flange -1- on the leftt-hand side of the cylinder head, and lay to one side.

–  Remove heat insulation -1- of the air hose -2-, paying attention to the installation position. –  Remove air hose -2-. –  Release the two bolts of the upper air hose bracket.

–  Separate sleeve-2-, remove bolt-arrow- and remove the turbocompressor air intake hose.

–  Remove heat insulation from the air hose -3-, (paying attention to the installation position) and release clip -2-. –  Release bolts -6- and -4- of the heat shield at the rear of the cylinder head. –  Release bolts -1- and -5-. –  Remove upper air pipe and heat shield.

–  Unscrew the three securing bolts -arrows- turbocharger/exhaust manifold. –  Remove Poly V-belt → Chapter. –  Remove tensioner for the Poly V-belt. –  Detach timing belt from camshaft → Chapter.   Note The counterhold coupling is seated in the cylinder head. Therefore, an additional support must be fixed to hold the engine on the cylinder block side and thus allow removal of the cylinder head.

–  Screw in the counterhold -T10014- into the threaded hole above the coolant pump in the cylinder block, as shown. –  Lift engine slightly using spindle -A- until spindle -B- is relieved. –  Remove spindle -B-.

–  Loosen socket head bolts in the sequence given and then remove completely. –  Carefully remove cylinder head.
