t  Manual multimeter -VAG 1526B-
t  Measuring tool set -VAG 1594C-
t  Tester -VAG 1598/31-
t  Current flow diagram

Test requirements
l  Battery voltage must be at least 11.5 V
l  Speedometer must be OK. Checking function: → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.90
Test sequence
–  Connect tester -VAG 1598/31- to control unit cable harness, without connecting engine control unit → Chapter.
–  Raise front left side of vehicle.
–  Measure the voltage supply with the multimeter and the measuring tool set -VAG 1594C-in the following manner:
   
Tester -VAG 1598/31-, socketTester -VAG 1598/31-, socket

–  Switch on ignition.
–  Rotate front wheel and observe voltage display.
Specification: fluctuating 0 ... 12 V .
If the display does not fluctuate:
–  Check wiring to speedometer or speedometer sender: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
