Voltage supply and wiring to control unit: checking
Voltage supply and wiring to control unit: checking
Test requirements
l  Battery voltage must be at least 11.5 V
Test sequence
–  Pull 6-pin connector off throttle valve control part.
–  Measure the voltage supply with the multimeter and the measuring tool set -VAG 1594C- in the following manner:

–  Switch on ignition.
Specification: 4.5 V min
–  Switch off ignition.
   
–  Connect tester -VAG 1598/31- to control unit cable harness, without connecting engine control unit → Chapter.

–  Check cables between tester box and 6-pin connector for open circuit, short circuit to earth or to positive.

Specification: 1,5 Ω max.

–  Also check cables for short circuits between them.
Specification: ∞ Ω.
If no wiring fault is detected:
–  Replace engine control unit → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
