Tightening torques > < Engine securing engine to assembly stand

Installing notes
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence, when doing this note the following:
–  Check clutch release bearing for wear, renew if necessary.
–  Check centring of clutch drive plate → 5-speed manual gearbox 085; Rep. Gr.30.
–  Lightly grease clutch release bearing, release bearing guide sleeve and splines on input shaft with -G 000 100-.
–  Check whether the dowel sleeves for centralising engine/gearbox are in the cylinder block, install if necessary.
   
–  Fit intermediate plate onto sealing flange and slide onto dowel sleeves -arrows-. Make sure the intermediate plate is correctly seated on the engine.
–  When introducing assembly, ensure that enough clearance exists between the drive shafts.
  Note!
On fitting the assembly with vehicles with ABS, be especially careful not to damage the ABS unit tubes
  N10-0160
–  On fitting the engine supports, check that the lug of the right-hand rear console and the front console recess fit into the rubber-metal bush guides -arrow-.
–  Align engine by rocking in such a way that engine supports bear no tension.
  Note!
Engine support tightening torques → Chapter.
–  Electrical connections and routing → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.97.
–  Installing drive shafts → Running gear; Rep. Gr.48.
–  Install front exhaust pipe → Chapter, exhaust manifold, front exhaust pipe with catalyst and attachments.
–  Installing P.A.S. vane pump → Running gear; Rep. Gr.48.
Vehicles with air conditioner
–  Installing air conditioner compressor → Heating, air conditioning; Rep. Gr.87.
Continued for all vehicles
–  Install ribbed belt → Chapter.
–  Installing clutch cable → 5-speed manual gearbox 085; Rep. Gr.30.
–  Install gear selector mechanism → 5-speed manual gearbox 085; Rep. Gr.34.
–  Filling with coolant → Chapter.
–  Adapt control unit to engine electronics → Injection and Ignition System, 4LV; Rep. Gr.24.
–  Carry out a test drive and interrogate fault memory → Injection and Ignition System, 4LV; Rep. Gr.01.
