Removal

–  Removing and installing cover over camshaft housing -arrows-. –  Remove air inlet duct, as well as air intake tubes, air filter → Injection and Ignition System, 4LV; Rep. Gr.24. –  Remove upper part of toothed belt guard.

–  Position the crankshaft to TDC of No. 1 cylinder. The notch on the pulley must align with the edge of the “O” mark.

–  The locking pin holes in the camshaft sprockets must align with the fitting holes in the camshaft housing -arrows-.   Note! If the locking pin holes are positioned opposite the toothed belt sprockets, the crankshaft must be turned one revolution further. Fix both camshaft sprockets with camshaft locking device -T10016- as follows: –  Insert the locking pins -T10016- into the locking holes of the camshaft sprockets and the holes in the camshaft housing.   Note! Both locking pins are correctly placed if the end parts -D- are aligned with the line -A-.

–  Slide support -T10016--B- onto stop on inlet camshaft sprocket -C-. –  Remove ribbed belt → Chapter.

–  Loosen bolt that secures the pulley and sprocket of the toothed belt by using the counter support -T20018A-. –  Remove pulley. Refit securing bolt with two washers and tighten to secure toothed belt sprocket. –  Remove lower toothed belt guard. –  Mark direction of rotation of both toothed belts before removing. Removing main drive toothed belt:

–  Loosen securing bolt of the tensioning roller of the main belt -1- and release the toothed belt, turning the tensioning roller anti-clockwise -arrow-. –  Remove toothed belt. Removing coupling drive toothed belt:

–  Loosen securing bolt of tensioning roller for coupling drive toothed belt -1- and release toothed belt, turning tensioner clockwise -arrow-. –  Separate tensioning roller from coupling drive toothed belt. –  Remove toothed belt.
