t  Cylinder head: check for deformation → Fig.
t  Identification of cylinder head gasket → Fig.
   
1 - Cylinder head
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   If renewed, change coolant in entire system
2 - Plate
q   For cylinder head bolt.
3 - Cylinder head bolt
q   Note the fitting order when loosening and tightening → Chapter
q   Before installing, place washers in cylinder head → Item.
4 - Oil pressure switch -F1-, 22 Nm
q   Identification: green
q   0.5 bar
q   In case of leakage, cut out and replace sealing ring
q   Checking → Chapter
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
5 - 20 Nm
6 - Attachment rings
7 - Glow pin plug, 18 Nm
8 - Seal
q   Replace
9 - Vacuum pump
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
10 - 10 Nm
11 - Clip
12 - Coolant temperature sender -G62-
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
13 - Seal
q   Replace
14 - 10 Nm
15 - Coolant connections
16 - Seal
q   Replace
17 - 25 Nm
18 - Attachment rings
19 - Cylinder head gasket
q   Replace
q   Note marking → Fig..
q   If renewed, change coolant in entire system
20 - Hall sender -G40-
q   For the camshaft position
q   For removal and fitting, the timing belt should be removed from the camshaft wheels and the idle pulley should be loosened.
21 - 10 Nm

   
Checking cylinder head for distortion
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Auxiliary ruler
t  Feeler gauge
–  Use a straight edged ruler and feeler gauge to measure for deformation at several points.
Maximum permissible deformation: 0.1 mm.
  Note
Reworking diesel cylinder heads is not permissible.

Identification of cylinder head gasket
t  Part number = (-arrow 1-)
t  Handling code = (-arrow 2-) do not take into account
t  Holes = (-arrow 3-)
  Note
t  Depending on the measure of piston protrusion, different thickness of gasket are fitted. When renewing gasket, install new gasket with same identification.
t  Piston projection at TDC must be determined when installing new pistons or a short engine → Chapter.
