Particle filter Removing and installing
  Note
t  Removing and installing exhaust manifold → Chapter.
t  After working on the exhaust system, ensure that the system is not under stress and that there is sufficient clearance to the bodywork. If necessary, loosen double clamp and align silencer and exhaust pipe so that sufficient clearance is maintained to the bodywork and the support rings are evenly loaded.
t  Renew self-locking nuts.
t  After replacing the particulate filter or the pressure differential sender -G505-, the pressure differential sender -G505- must be adapted using the vehicle diagnostics tester -VAS 505xx- in all cases. Guided functions; pressure differential sender -G505-: adapting.

Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter

Removal:
–  Loosen the engine cover at the locations -arrows- and remove.
–  Disconnect the battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27
  E10-10087
–  Disconnect connector for Lambda probe -G39--3- and connector for exhaust gas temperature sender 4 -G648--1-.
  N26-10333
–  Disconnect connector for exhaust temperature sender 3 -G495--1- (secured behind bracket).
–  Pull connector out of retainers and guide wiring out of retainers on plenum chamber bulkhead -2- and on turbocharger.
  N26-10334
–  Unplug connector from pressure differential sender -G505--2-.
–  Unscrew the screws -3, 4 -.
  N26-10526
–  Release the pressure differential sender -G505- with bracket -1- from the toothed belt cover top section.
–  Lay pressure differential sender -G505- down on particulate filter.
  N15-10495
–  Remove securing clamp -1- between particulate filter and turbocharger.
–  Remove the lambda probe using the set of ring spanners for lambda probes -3337-.
–  Remove exhaust temperature sender 3 -G495- → Item. Use 17 mm wrench -T10395/6-.
  N26-10336
–  Only loosen bolt -1-.
–  Remove the soundproofing or the underbody protection → Bodywork, exterior assembly work; Rep. gr.50.
  N26-10528
–  Unscrew the exhaust temperature sensor 4 -G648- from the exhaust pipe to the particulate filter -Item 1-.
  Note
Disregard: -Pos. 2-.
  A26-10189
–  Unscrew the screws -1- of the protective casing and remove them.
  N17-10184
–  Unscrew the fixing nuts -1- of the particle filter bracket using the 13 mm ratchet spanner -T10384- and unscrew the nuts -2-.
–  Remove the bracket of the particle filter.
–  Replace the bracket of the particle filter using riveted threaded bolts → Electronic spare parts catalogue.
  A26-10723
–  Unscrew bolts -2- and -3- for pendulum support.
  Note
Disregard: -Pos. 1-.
  Caution
There is a risk of damage to the separating elements.
The separating elements in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10°.
  A10-1578
–  Release the tightening clamp -1- and move it backwards.
  A26-0734
–  Remove bolts -arrows-.
  A26-0735
–  Move the engine / gearbox assembly forwards using the engine support -3300A- by dimension -a-.
l  Dimension -a- = 35 mm
  A21-10156
–  Pay special attention to the following points:
l  The air conditioning compressor -2- may not touch the refrigerant line -1--arrow-.
l  Alternator must not make contact with refrigerant line.
l  The pressure pipe may not touch the radiator.
  A34-10287
–  Remove particulate filter by turning 180° around its own axis.
  A26-10712
If the catalytic converter should be reinstalled, the separating element on the front section of the exhaust pipe must always be protected using a transport lock -T10403--arrow-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse order, noting the following:
l  Specified torque for particulate filter → Chapter.
l  Specified torques for pendulum support → Chapter
l  Tightening torque of the heat protection plate bolts, drive shaft, 35 Nm
  Note
t  Replace the seals, self-locking nuts and particulate filter clamps.
t  When fitting, attach all cable ties back to the same location.
t  Replace the bracket of the particle filter using riveted threaded bolts → Electronic spare parts catalogue.
t  This is the only way to apply the necessary tightening torque.
Installation is in the reverse sequence of removal.
  N26-10517
Observe sequence when installing particulate filter:
  A26-10695
1.Position particulate filter on turbocharger and secure clip -1- loosely
2.screw bolts and nuts -2 … 5- in by hand
l  Particulate filter and retainer must be able to move
3.Tighten clip -1-
4.Tighten nuts and bolts -2- and -5-
5.Tighten nuts and bolts -3- and -4-

–  Install pendulum support → Chapter.
–  Align exhaust system free of stress → Chapter.
After replacing the particulate filter or the pressure differential sender -G505-, the pressure differential sender -G505- must be adapted using the vehicle diagnostics tester -VAS 505xx- in all cases. Guided functions; pressure differential sender -G505-: adapting.
