  Note
t  After working on the exhaust system, ensure that the system is not under stress and that there is sufficient clearance to the bodywork.
t  If necessary, loosen double and single clamps and align silencers and exhaust pipe so that sufficient clearance is maintained to the bodywork and the support rings are evenly loaded → Chapter.
t  After replacing the particulate filter or the pressure differential sender -G505-, the pressure differential sender -G505- must be adapted using the → Vehicle diagnostic tester in all cases. Guided functions; pressure differential sender -G505-: adapting.
t  The partitioning elements of the front exhaust pipes must not be bent more than 10°, otherwise they could be damaged.
t  Renew seals, gaskets and self-locking nuts.
  WARNING
The operation regeneration is currently only possible during a test run. To do this, use the vehicle diagnosis device -VAS 505xx- → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
   
1 - Differential pressure sender -G505-
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
2 - 3 Nm
3 - Control lines
4 - Clamps
5 - Exhaust gas temperature sender 4 -G648-, 45 Nm
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Lubricate the thread with hot bolt paste -G 052 112 A3-.
6 - Lambda probe -G39-, 50 Nm
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Apply high-temperature lubricant -G 052 112 A3- to thread only. The high-temperature lubricant -G 052 112 A3- must not get into the slots on the probe body.
q   To remove use the set of flat ring spanners -3337-
7 - Heat shield
8 - 9 Nm
9 - Particle filter
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
10 - Seal
q   Replace
q   Note fitting position:
11 - Clamp, 7 Nm
12 - 25 Nm
13 - 25 Nm
14 - Spring retainer
q   Bolted to cylinder block
q   Version with threaded pins:
q   Replacing particulate filter bracket with riveted stud bolt → Electronic parts catalogue.
q   This is the only way to apply the necessary tightening torque.
15 - Exhaust gas temperature sender 3 -G495-, 45 Nm
q   Exhaust gas temperature sender 3 -G495-: removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Lubricate the thread with hot bolt paste -G 052 112 A3-.
16 - Spring retainer
17 - 25 Nm
18 - 45 Nm
q   For control line
19 - Spring retainer
q   For pressure differential sender -G505-.

   
Plug connection on the bulkhead of the plenum chamber
1 - Connect the electrical connector of the exhaust gas temperature sender 1 -G235-
2 - Connect the electrical connector of the exhaust gas temperature sender 3 -G495-
3 - Connect the electrical connector of the exhaust gas temperature sender 4 -G648-
4 - Connect the electrical connector of the Lambda probe -G39-

–  Position double clamp at distance -a- = 5 mm from marking on front exhaust pipe.
