| Connect the self diagnosis -VAS 505X- as described below: |

| Start engine and allow to idle. |
| Only when engine does not start: |
| –
| Switch on the ignition. |
| –
| Touch the pushbutton for the „vehicle self-diagnosis“ on the display. |
| –
| Touch the screen on „01 - Engine electronics“. |
| The control unit identification and engine control unit coding are indicated on display. |
| Select diagnostic function |
| –
| Press button „004 - Reading fault memory content“ on display. |
| –
| If faults are stored in the engine control unit, they will be displayed as a list. |
| –
| If faults are stored in the engine control unit, they are shown one below the other on the display. |
| –
| Press ← button several times. |
| –
| Call-up display „1001 Common services“. |
| –
| Press button „1001.05 - Clear fault memory“ on display. All OBD systems. |
| –
| Exit „vehicle self-diagnosis“ by pressing the ↑ button »End«. |
