Checking fuel pressure regulating valve -N276-
  WARNING
t  Always read rules for cleanliness and instructions for working on fuel system → Chapter.
t  Follow these instructions and rules for cleanliness before starting work and while working on the fuel system.
l  Engine must be warm.
l  Air conditioner switched off
  Note
t  A fuel pressure regulating valve - N 276- leaking during starting will result in an increased return flow rate.
t  The fuel high-pressure required for starting will not be achieved.
   
–  Loosen the engine cover at the locations -arrows- and remove.
–  Remove the sound insulation of the injector valves.

–  Pull off fuel return line -1-.
  A23-10293
–  Seal the return line connection using a blind plug -1-.
–  Connect the return run line -2- with a suitable hose -3-.

–  Hold the end of this hose -1- in a suitable container -2- to measure the return flow rate.
1) Check with engine running
–  Start engine and run at idling speed.
l  Specification: in 30 seconds ≥ 75 ml
If the specification is not attained, the fuel pressure regulating valve -N276- is defective.
2) Check with engine running
If condition in 1) is met, increase engine speed ≥ 2000 rpm.
l  Specification: Return flow rate 0 ml
l  Droplets are allowed
l  If the specification is not attained, the fuel pressure regulating valve -N 276- is defective.
3) If it is no longer possible to start engine
Carry out check with starting speed.
l  Specification: Return flow rate 0 ml
l  Droplets are allowed
l  If the specification is not attained, the fuel pressure regulating valve -N 276- is defective.
