Removing and installing intake manifold (vehicles without intake manifold flap -V157-) Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  T30 socket -T10405-, see equivalent → Anchor Removal:   WARNING t  Always read rules for cleanliness and instructions for working on fuel system → Chapter. t  Follow these instructions and rules for cleanliness before starting work and while working on the fuel system.

–  Loosen the engine cover at the locations -arrows- and remove. –  Remove the soundproofing or the underbody protection → Bodywork, exterior assembly work; Rep. gr.50. Altea - Altea XL - Leon –  Remove cowling → Chapter. Ibiza –  Remove cowling → Chapter.

All other vehicles continued –  Remove bolts -arrows-. –  Loosen hose clip -2- on throttle valve module -J338-, pull air pipe off and leave in installation position. –  Disconnect electrical connectors at glow plugs → Chapter.

–  Remove exhaust gas recirculation cooler changeover valve -N345--left arrow- from bracket and lay aside.   Note Disregard -right arrow-.

Ibiza –  Hang out the coolant return hose -arrows- and move the coolant line to one side.

Altea - Altea XL - Leon –  Unscrew the securing bolts -arrows- and put the coolant return line to the side.

All vehicles (continued): –  Remove securing bolts -arrows-.

–  Unscrew the bolts -2-, lay the coolant return line aside. –  Remove rail element (high-pressure accumulator) → Chapter.

–  Disconnect electrical connection -2- on throttle valve control unit -J338-. –  Remove bolt -1- for dipstick guide tube.   Note Disregard -arrows-.

–  Open clamp -1- and detach.   Note Disregard: -Pos. 2-.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- for intake manifold diagonally from outside to inside using socket T30 -T10405-. –  Carefully remove intake manifold. Installation Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following: l  Tightening torque → Chapter   Note Renew seals and gaskets. –  Tighten intake manifold bolts in diagonal sequence, working from inside to outside. –  Install air pipe. –  Install high-pressure accumulator → Chapter.
