Emptying fuel tank if it is more than 3/4 full > < Fuel tank: draining

Fuel tank: empty (Fuel pump is okay)

Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Fuel drainage equipment -VAS 5190-

t  Adapter for draining the fuel -VAS 5190 /2-
t  Central diagnosis -VAS 505X-
  Note

If the fuel extraction unit -VAS 5190- is still fitted with the extraction hose with a fixed tip, the extraction hose must be replaced with the version with a screwed tip.
–  Unscrew tip -1- from extraction hose of fuel extraction unit -VAS 5190-.
–  Screw the adapter for extracting the fuel -VAS 5190 /2- from the adapter set for fuel extraction -VAS 5190 /10- onto the extractor hose.
  WARNING
Danger of scalding from very hot fuel.
t  In extreme cases the fuel lines and the fuel can reach a temperature of 100℃. Before the lines are separated, allow the fuel to cool, otherwise there is a risk of severe burns.

t  Wear protection gloves.
t  Wear eye protection.
Risk of injury - fuel system operates under high pressure.
To reduce the pressure in the fuel system, wrap a clean cloth around the connection and carefully loosen the connection.
»Carry out the following work sequence«
Removal:
Altea, Altea XL, Leon
–  Remove rear right seat → Bodywork - Interior fitting work; Rep. gr.72.
Ibiza
–  Fold up rear seat bench.

All other vehicles continued
–  Release retainers -arrows- at cover for sealing flange.
–  Disconnect fuel supply line -1- at flange, pressing release tab to do so.

–  Connect extraction hose with fuel extraction adapter -VAS 5190 /2- to supply line connection of sealing flange.
–  Drain fuel tank with fuel extraction unit -VAS 5190- through the supply line connection of sealing flange.
–  Connect the Vehicle diagnostics tester -VAS 505X- and perform the guided function „Fuel system: empty“.
  Note
The fuel pump is now activated. The Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 505X- shows the procedure when extracting.
–  Open shut-off tap on fuel extractor -VAS 5190- until fuel tank is emptied.
