Installing > < Removing and installing radiator and fan
Removing
Removing
–  Remove engine cover.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
Vehicles with engine codes ANU, AUY, BVK
–  Pull upper coolant hose off radiator.
–  Detach bottom coolant hose from the clips on the air ducting.
–  Pull the connecting hoses off charge air cooler.
–  Remove the air pipe inlet connection/charge air cooler.
–  Pull connector off thermal switch and radiator fan.
–  Remove thermo switch.
–  Remove reinforcement strut.
–  Unscrew fan ring securing bolts and remove fan ring with fan.
Vehicles with no air conditioner
–  Remove radiator securing bolts.
–  Remove radiator downwards.
Vehicles with air conditioner
  WARNING
The air conditioner refrigerant circuit must not be opened.
  Note
To prevent damage to condenser or to refrigerant lines/hoses, ensure that the lines and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.
–  Remove retaining clamp(s) for refrigerant lines.
Vehicles ► 05.2000
–  Remove radiator grille with trim frame: → Rep. Gr.66
Vehicles 06.2000 ►
–  Bring lock carrier into service position → Rep. Gr.50.
Continuation for all vehicles
–  Remove left headlight: → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.94
–  Remove radiator securing bolts.
–  Remove condenser from radiator.
–  Secure condenser to body so that the refrigerant lines/hoses are not under tension.
–  Remove radiator downwards.
Vehicles with engine codes ASZ, BTB
–  Bring lock carrier into service position → Rep. Gr.50.
–  Pull out retaining clip for upper coolant hose and remove coolant hose from quick-release coupling of radiator.
–  Pull connecting hose off charge air cooler left at connection.
–  Remove charge air cooler connecting flange.
–  Separate connector to radiator fan control unit -J293- at cowling.
–  Unbolt coolant pipe securing bolt from additional cooler out of air intake elbow.
–  Unbolt air intake elbow from radiator and remove.
Vehicles with no air conditioner
–  Remove radiator securing bolts.
–  Remove radiator downwards.
Vehicles with air conditioner
  WARNING
The air conditioner refrigerant circuit must not be opened.
  Note
To prevent damage to condenser or to refrigerant lines/hoses, ensure that the lines and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.
–  Remove retaining clamp(s) for refrigerant lines.
