Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Central diagnosis -VAS 5051B-, see equivalent → Anchor or central diagnosis -VAS 5052-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Cable 3m. -VAS 5051/5A-, see equivalent → Anchor or cable 5m. -VAS 5051/6A-, see equivalent → Anchor or diagnostic cable -VAS 5052/3-1-, see equivalent → Anchor
Procedure
–  Connect the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051B- or central diagnosis -VAS 5052-.

–  Connect the 5m. cable -VAS 5051/6A- to the diagnostic connection.
–  Start engine and run at idling speed.
Only when engine does not start:
–  Switch ignition on.
–  On the screen, push the „Vehicle self-diagnosis“ button.
Selecting vehicle system:
–  Press button „01 - Engine electronics“ on display.
The display indicates the control unit identification and the coding of the engine control unit.
Select diagnostic function
–  Press button „02 - Read fault memory“ on display.
–  If no fault is stored in engine control unit „0 fault(s) detected“ is displayed.
–  If faults are stored in the engine control unit, they are shown one below the other on the display.
–  Press the button.
–  Press button „05 - Clear fault memory“ on display.
–  Press function „06-End output“.
