Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Manual vacuum pump -VAS 6213-, see equivalency → Anchor

t  Use an injector return line to make an -adapter-.
Procedure
–  Erase fault memory entry with vehicle diagnosis tester.
  N23-10450
–  Loosen the engine cover at the locations -arrows- and remove.
–  Clean all connections (e.g. with commercial cleaning solution) before removing.
  Note
t  Make sure all parts are clean; no dirt must be allowed to enter the fuel system.
t  Check all cylinders in turn.
–  Dry all components after cleaning.
Start with cylinder 1.

–  Pull the connections of the return line off at injectors. To do this, press bows -1- and -2- down and pull the release pin upwards -arrow- at the same time.
–  Connect the adapter that had previously been cleaned using compressed air to the injector that should be tested.

–  Use hand-operated vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to generate vacuum of -500 mbar.
If the injector is functional, the pressure remains constant for over 30 seconds.
If the injectors are defective, pressure drops within 2 ... 3 seconds back to 0 bar.
Repeat check is necessary, observe pressure loss at hand-operated vacuum pump -VAS 6213-.
–  Replace the faulty injectors → Chapter.
