Oil pressure and oil pressure switch: checking t  Test sequence → Anchor t  Tightening torques → Anchor

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Oil pressure tester -VAG 1342-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Voltage tester -VAG 1527B-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Torque wrench -VAG 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor. Test prerequisites l  Oil level OK l  Engine oil temperature: at least 90° (radiator fan must have run once). Test sequence

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows-.for coolant expansion reservoir. –  Unplug electrical wire for coolant shortage indicator switch -F66- at bottom of expansion tank and move expansion tank to one side with coolant hoses -1- and -2- attached.

–  Separate line on oil pressure switch -F1--Arrow-. –  Remove oil pressure switch.

–  Connectoil pressure tester -VAG 1342- with adapter -VAG 1342/14- in hole for oil pressure switch. –  Screw oil pressure switch -2- into oil pressure tester -VAG 1342-. –  Connect brown wire -1- of tester to earth (-). Checking oil pressure switch –  Connect the voltage tester -VAG 1527B--Item 1- with auxiliary lines from auxiliary measuring set -VAG 1594C- to oil pressure switch and positive terminal on the battery („+“) l  LED should not light up. If the LED lights up: –  Renew oil pressure switch. –  Start engine.   Note The switching point of the oil pressure switch can be reached when the engine is cranked on the starter motor, so watch the tester and the test lamp while starting the engine. l  LED should light up at 1.2…1.6 bar. If the LED does not light up: –  Renew oil pressure switch. Checking oil pressure –  Start the engine (engine oil temperature approx. 80 °C). l  Oil pressure at engine idle: min. 1.2 bar l  Minimum oil pressure at 2,000 rpm at least min. 3.5 bar If results do not match specifications: pressure relief valve or oil pump defective. Installing Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note Renew seal when installing oil pressure switch. Tightening torques
