Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
–  Disconnect the engine cover-arrow-.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
  E10-10060
–  Remove vent hose from motor for intake pipe flap -V157-, for this purpose loosen clamp -arrow-.
  A10-11168
–  Loosen nut -1- and place radiator pump for exhaust gas recirculation -V400- at side with coolant hoses -2- and -3- connected.
  Note
Item -4- can be disregarded.
  A19-10905
–  Unscrew bolt -1- and double bolt -3-.
–  Remove upper coolant pipe from hoses, for this purpose loosen the clamps -arrows- and lift retaining clips -2-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:

Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Spare parts catalogue.

–  Connect coolant hose with plug-in connector to coolant pipe → Fig.
–  Fill up coolant → Chapter.
