–  Take out old filter element.
Installing
For the air mass gauge -G70- to work properly, respect the instructions and work procedures which are described below.
  Note
t  If the air filter element is very dirty or wet, dirt or water could reach the air mass meter -G70- and affect the air mass value. This would lead to loss of power, since a smaller injection quantity is calculated.
t  Genuine filter cartridges must always be used for the air filter.
t  The hose connections and hoses for charge air system must be free of oil and grease before fitting. Do not use silicone based lubricants when installing.
t  The air filter housing elements must be clean.
t  Secure all hose unions with hose clamps the same as those of the series → Spare parts catalogue.
t  Upon blowing the air filter housing with pressurised air take note of the following: To prevent malfunctions, cover all critical parts of the engine air intake tract such as air mass meter, intake pipes, etc. with a clean cloth.
t  Please observe requirements for disposal.
–  Blow out water drain (small hole in bottom section of air cleaner housing) with compressed air
–  Clean the air filter housing from salt residues, dirt and leaves (top and bottom sections).
–  Check for salt residue, dirt and leaves in air mass meter and air intake hose (engine intake side).
–  Check that there is no dirt or leaves in the air duct from the lock carrier to the air filter housing.
–  When installing the air filter cartridge ensure that it is centred in the receptacle in the bottom section of the air filter.
–  Carefully and without great force, place the top air filter element on the bottom element. make sure when doing so that the air filter housing upper element does not lie inclined over the air filter cartridge (observe the cartridge air tight lip)
–  Ensure secure fit of intake hose at air mass meter -G70-.
Perform remaining installation in reverse order of removal.
