Checking fuel pressure regulating valveN276 > < Installing high-pressure lines

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Pressure gauge K-Jetronic -V.A.G 1318-, see equivalent → Anchor
Test requirements
l  Battery voltage at least 12.5 V.
l  Fuel filter OK.
l  Fuel tank: full, at least half full.
l  Ignition switched off

Checking residual pressure
–  Disconnect the engine cover-arrow-.
  WARNING
t  Always read rules for cleanliness and instructions for working on fuel system → Chapter.
t  Follow these instructions and rules for cleanliness before starting work and while working on the fuel system.
t  Prior to opening the fuel system, place a clean cloth around the joint and carefully loosen this to reduce the pressure.

–  Pull fuel supply line -arrow- from the connecting point.

–  Connect K-Jetronic pressure tester -V.A.G 1318- with the matching adapter -2- to fuel supply line -1-. Connect the other adapter -4- of the K-Jetronic pressure tester -V.A.G 1318- to fuel supply line -3-.

In this way the K-Jetronic pressure tester -V.A.G 1318- is connected into the fuel supply line.
–  Connect a diagnosis tester.
–  Switch on the ignition.
–  Select „Engine electronics“ in vehicle self-diagnosis.
–  Then select „Basic setting“.
–  Select „Checking fuel system pressurisation pump“ from the list.
–  Press „Start“ button
–  Fuel pumps will run for approx. 60 seconds.
–  Keep the fuel pumps running until the maximum fuel pressure has been reached.
l  Specification: min. 3.5 bar
If specification is not obtained:
Check union between pressure tester and fuel line for leaks.
Check pressure tester for leaks.
Check fuel lines and their connections for leaks.
Fuel filter is blocked.
