t  Removing → Anchor.
t  Installing → Anchor.
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Tray -VAS 6208-, see equivalent → Anchor
  W00-10228
t  Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor
Removing
  WARNING
Hot vapour/hot coolant may escape when opening expansion tank. Cover cap with cloth and open carefully.
–  Open cap on coolant expansion tank.

–  Pull off engine cover panel -arrows-.
  E10-10062
–  Release quick-fasteners -1- and -2- and take off front noise insulation.
–  If fitted, release quick fasteners -3- and remove rear noise insulation.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Remove intake manifold → Chapter.

–  Unscrew the the cable harness mount -arrows- from the water pipes.

–  Remove coolant hose -1-.
–  Unscrew the bolt -2-.

–  Detach coolant hoses -arrows- from coolant pipe.
–  Unscrew bolt -1- and detach coolant pipe.
Installing
Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

t  Renew gaskets and seals.
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue.
–  Before installing, clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring as required.
–  Coat the new O-Ring with G12+ and mount on the coolant pipe.
–  Installing intake manifold → Chapter.
–  Fill up with coolant → Chapter.
