Removing
–  Remove camshafts → Chapter.
  Note
To replace the valve stem seals of the exhaust valves for cylinders 3 and 4 the exhaust return valve -N18- must also be disassembled.
–  Remove roller rocker arms and place on a clean surface. Put down in the sequence of their installation position (do not interchange the position of the roller rocker arms).
–  Unscrew the spark plugs using spark plug spanner -3122B-.

–  Fasten the template -VAS 5161/19- to the cylinder head with theknurled bolts -VAS 5161/12-, as shown in the figure.
–  Set piston of the respective cylinder to „bottom dead centre“.
–  Screw in the measuring unit -T40012- in the threads of the spark plug and apply compressed air (min. 6 bar).

–  Release the seized spring buckles with the percussive mandrel -VAS 5161/3- and a plastic hammer.
  N15-10111
–  Screw snap-in device -VAS 5161/6- with engaging forks -VAS 5161/5- into guide plate -VAS 5161/19-.
–  Insert the assembly cartridge -VAS 5161/8- into the template -VAS 5161/19-.
–  Attach the pressure nozzle -VAS 5161/2- to the part -VAS 5161/6-
  Note

Hook the pressure fork -VAS 5161/2- on the exhaust side as shown in the figure.
–  Push down the assembly cartridge -VAS 5161/8-. Turn the knurled bolt of the assembly cartridge -VAS 5161/8- to the right, until the points fit into the valve cotter pins.
–  Move the knurled bolt lightly from side to side. In this way the valve cotter pins are separated by the pressure and fit into the cartridge.
–  Release pressure fork -VAS 5161/2-.
–  Take out assembly cartridge -VAS 5161/8-.
  N15-10113
–  Extract the valve stem seals with the extractor -3364- .
