Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Útil de sustentación -10 - 222 A-, ver equivalente → Anchor
t  Armazón -10 - 222 A /1-
t  Soporte -T10358-
t  Llave dinamométrica (40 - 200 Nm) -V.A.G 1332-, ver equivalente → Anchor
t  Torque wrench (5 - 50 Nm) -V.A.G 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor

Desmontar
   
–  Colocar el dispositivo de sustentación -10 - 222 A- con el armazón -10 - 222 A /1- tal y como se muestra en la figura y colgarlo de la argolla.
Remove the following components:
t  Desmontar la carcasa del filtro de aire → Chapter
t  Descargar el líquido refrigerante → Chapter
t  Inyectores: desmontar → Chapter
t  Colector de admisión: desmontar → Chapter
t  Desmontar la carcasa de distribución → Chapter
t  Desmontar la cadena de distribución y la cadena de mando de la bomba de aceite → Chapter
t  Desmontar la carcasa del termostato en la culata.
t  Desmontar el colector de escape con catalizador previo.

–  Desenroscar el tornillo de fijación para el cambio y atornillar el soporte -T10358-, según se muestra en la figura.
–  Colgar los ganchos del dispositivo de sustentación -10 - 222 A- en el soporte -T10358-, según se muestra en la figura.
–  Girar el husillo hasta que los ganchos estén tensados un poco.

–  Descolgar el gancho -1- en la argolla izquierda y desplazar el husillo al lado izquierdo del dispositivo de sustentación -10 - 222 A-.
Remove camshaft housing → Chapter.
–  Remove roller rocker fingers together with support elements and lay aside on clean surface.
–  Ensure that the roller rocker fingers and the support elements are not mixed up.

–  Loosen socket head bolts in the sequence given and then remove completely.
–  Carefully remove cylinder head.
Fitting
Prerequisite
l  The pistons should not be in top dead centre.
  Note
t  Do not remove the new cylinder head gasket from its packing until immediately before its installation.
t  Handle the new gasket with extreme care. If damaged, leaks may result.
–  Place a clean cloth in cylinders so that no dirt or particles can get in between cylinder wall and piston.
–  Carefully clean cylinder head and cylinder block sealing surfaces. Ensure no long grooves or scratches are produced (if using sandpaper, it must be at least 100 grit).
–  Carefully remove any abrasive metal particles and then the cloths.
–  Position the cylinder number 1 into TDC and then rotate the crankshaft a little backwards.
–  Fit a new cylinder head gasket. The inscription (spare part no.) must be legible.
–  Fit the cylinder head. Note the centering pins of the engine block.
–  Fit new cylinder head bolts and tighten by hand.
  N15-0026
–  Tighten cylinder head bolts in tightening sequence as follows:
–  Tighten all bolts to 30 Nm.
–  Then tighten all bolts 1/4 turn (90°) using a rigid wrench.
–  Then tighten all bolts again 1/4 turn (90°)
–  Install support elements in cylinder head and fit respective roller rocker fingers onto respective valve stem end and support elements.
–  Fit camshaft housing → Chapter.
–  Montar la cadena de distribución y la cadena de mando de la bomba de aceite → Chapter
–  Adjust distribution timing → Chapter.
–  Montar la carcasa de distribución → Chapter
Continue installation following reverse order for removing.
