Distributor housing: removing and fitting
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter
   
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Suspension tool -10 - 222 A-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Frame -10 - 222 A /1-
t  Retention tool -3415-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Pin -3415/1-
t  Torque wrench (5 - 50 Nm) -V.A.G 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor

   
t  Torque wrench (40 -200 Nm) -V.A.G 1332-, see equivalent → Anchor
Removing
–  Remove engine antisplash cover .
–  Remove front right wheel housing: → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. Gr.66.
–  Mark direction of rotation of Poly-V belt and remove → Chapter
–  Remove the air conditioning compressor from support with the coolant hoses connected: → Heating and air conditioning; Rep. Gr.87
–  Detach alternator.

–  Place the suspension device -10-222 A- as shown with the frame -10 - 222 A /1- and hang from the ring -arrow-.
  N15-0589
–  Slightly pre-tension the engine and remove the securing bolts -arrow-.
–  Remove oil sump → Chapter.
  N10-0403
–  Loosen the pulley securing bolt. Secure pulley with retaining tool -3415- and -3415/1-.
  N13-0469
–  Remove Allen keys from the distribution casing and the hexagonal bolts marked with -arrows-.
–  Remove distribution casing.
  Note
Ensure that the crankshaft sleeve remains on the sealing flange.
Fitting
  Note
Make sure that the contact surfaces of the pulley, the attachment bolt, the sleeve and the crankshaft sprocket are free of grease and oil.
–  Clean sealing surfaces carefully. They must be free of oil and grease.
  Note
t  La carcasa de distribución se sella con el motor con una junta y adicionalmente con el sellante D 176 501 A1.
t  El sellante D 176 501 A1 debe evitar inestaqueidad entre la carcasa de distribución y las junturas, -1- y -2-.
t  El sellante deben tener un diámetro de 10 mm y un grosor de aprox. 1 mm.
t  Aplicar el sellante inmediatamente antes de montar la carcasa de distribución.

–  Aplicar sellante D 176 501 A1 en la juntura carcasa de los árboles de levas/culata -1- y en la juntura culata/bloque motor -2-.
If using the new repair kit, first slide the diamond covered washer (interior diameter 23 mm) onto the crankshaft journal as far as possible.
Tightening procedure of the Poly-V belt sprocket bolts → Chapter
Replacing crankshaft oil seal on pulley end → Chapter
–  Fit the new gasket on the adjustment pins.
–  For ease of assembly, tighten two studs -M6x80- on the cylinder head and engine block
–  Fit the distribution casing with the crankshaft sleeve over the studs, the adjustment pins and the crankshaft journal.
–  Evenly tighten the fastening bolts of the distribution casing in diagonal pairs.
Take care not to tilt the camshaft housing.
Tightening torques:
Bolt M6 10 Nm
Bolt M10 50 Nm
Tightening procedure of the Poly-V belt sprocket bolts → Chapter
Continue installation following reverse order for removing.
