Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
   
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Counterhold -T20018B-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Guide sleeve -T20081B-, see equivalent → Anchor

   
Removing
–  Remove the notched belt → Chapter.
–  Remove crankshaft notched belt pulley. To do this lock notched belt pulley with retention tool -T20018B-.
–  Separate the sprocket from the timing belt-crankshaft by immobilising it with the counterhold -T20018B-.
–  Remove the oil sump → Chapter.

–  Unscrew the bolts -1 ... 6- that fasten the front sealing flange.
–  Remove sealing flange. If necessary, release by gently tapping with a rubber mallet.
–  Drive out seal with flange removed.
Fitting
Installation is carried out in reverse order, noting the following:
–  Clean sealing surface; must be free of oil and grease.
–  Remove sealant residue on cylinder block with a flat scraper.
  WARNING
Wear protective goggles.

–  Using a rotating plastic brush, remove any sealant residue from the sealing flange.
  Note
t  Observe use-by date of sealant.
t  Once the silicone sealant has been applied, fit the sealing flange within 5 minutes.
  A17-0030
–  Cut off tube nozzle at upper marking (nozzle diameter approx. 3 mm).
–  Apply the silicone sealant as shown to the clean sump sealing surface.
t  Thickness of sealant bead -arrows-: 2 ... 3 mm.
  Note
The sealing bead must not be thicker, otherwise excessive sealing compound will enter the sump and may block the oil suction pipe filter.
  N17-0019
–  Apply the silicone sealant bead -arrow- to the clean sealing surface of the sealing flange, see figure.
–  Fit sealing flange immediately and tighten all bolts slightly.
  Note
Use the adaptor -T20081B/4- to fit sealing flange with the oil seal already installed.
–  Tighten the attachment bolts of the seal flange diagonally.
–  Fit the oil sump → Chapter.
  Note
After fitting the oil sump, leave the sealant to dry for approx. 30 minutes. After this time, the engine oil may be filled.
  A17-0028
–  Fit the timing belt-crankshaft sprocket, immobilising it with the counterhold -T20018B-.
–  Tighten the new central bolt.
  Note
There must be no traces of oil or grease on the thread or collar.
–  Fit the timing belt → Chapter.
–  Fit the vibration damper → Chapter.
–  Fit the Poly-V belt → Chapter.
