When working on the exhaust gas turbocharger, pay careful attention to the following “6 rules” for cleanliness: |
t
Thoroughly clean all unions and the adjacent areas before opening.
t
To prevent dirt from entering, seal off open lines and connections with clean plugs, for example, from the engine sealing plug set -VAS 6122-.
t
Place parts that have been removed on a clean surface and cover them. Do not use rags that shed fibres!
t
Cover or carefully close any exposed parts if the repair is not to be made immediately.
t
Only fit thoroughly clean components. Only unpack spares just before fitting them. Do not use parts that have been stored loose (e.g. in tool boxes etc.).
t
If the system is open, do not work with compressed air if this can be avoided. Do not move vehicle unless absolutely necessary.
