Fitting
  Note!
t  Note the use by date of the sealant.
t  The oil seal must be fitted within five minutes of the application of the silicon base sealant.

–  Cut the tip of the tube at the highest mark (diameter of the nozzle: approximately 3 mm).
–  Proceeding in the manner indicated in the diagram, apply the silicon base sealant -D 176 404 A2- to the clean contact surface of the oil seal. Ribbon thickness -arrows-: 2 … 3 mm
  Note!
t  The ribbon of sealant should not be any thicker, if so, sealant may enter into the oil sump and could block up the filter in the axle support cover and could leak onto the surface of the crankshaft oil seal.
t  Before the application of sealant`, clean the contact surface of the seal using a clean cloth.
–  Fit sealing flange immediately and lightly tighten all bolts.
  Note!
Use guide sleeve -T20081B/6- to fit sealing flange with the oil seal already installed.
–  Tighten diagonally the bolts attaching the sealing flange. Tightening torque: 15 Nm
–  Clean off any excess sealant.

–  Fit the crankshaft cogwheel. To do this, immobilise it using the -T20018A- tool. Tightening torque: 90 Nm + 1/4 turn (90°)
  Note!
Following the fitting of the oil sump, the sealant should be allowed to dry for approximately 30 minutes. After this period, the engine oil may be recharged.
–  Fit the notched belt and adjust the distribution time → Chapter.
–  Fit the Poly-V ribbed belt → Chapter.
