  Note!
To carry out this work it will be necessary to disconnect battery earth strap. The vehicle should be checked for a fitted radio. If necessary, obtain the anti-theft code for the radio first.
–  Note the security and cleanliness measures before beginning any separation and fitting work → Chapter.
Commercial vehicles
–  Separate partially the forward part of the carpet in the load bay.
   
–  Remove the lower panels -1- from the division panel.
–  Remove the rear coverings -2-.
–  Remove the floor protection plates -3- and release the reinforcement beam.
Kombi versions
–  Push the rear right hand side seat forwards.
Continued for all vehicles
–  Remove the cover from the fuel level sender.

–  Remove the fuel return tube from the flange -1- (blue) along with the connector -3-.
–  Remove the fuel supply tube -2-.
–  Empty the fuel tank.

–  Separate the rear securing strap -1-.
–  Remove all of the attachments from the rear part of the exhaust system -2-.
–  Lower a little, the exhaust gas system along with the attachment to the bodywork.
–  Remove the right back wheel.
–  Remove the fuel inlet funnel plug and remove the dust cover.
–  Separate the fuel inlet funnel from the body work.
–  Attach the hydraulic column jack -SAT 1040- under the fuel tank.

–  Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the thermal shield.
–  Release the fuel tank assembly. To do this, it must be rotated 90° to ensure that the inlet funnel can pass through the space between the shock absorber and the suspension spring.
