Valve gear: repairing > < Test conditions

Checking process
   
–  Remove engine cover in the -direction of the arrow- .
–  Uncouple the 10-pin connector from the injector pump.
–  Remove all the pre-heating plugs with articulated spanner -U-40082-
  E10-0107
–  Fit adapter -V.A.G. 1381/12- to pre-heater plug locations.
–  Check compression with compression tester -V.A.G 1763- or -V.A.G 1381-.
  Note!
Using the compression tester → Operating instructions.
–  Operate starter until tester shows no further pressure increase.
Compression pressure:
New: 25...31 bar Wear limit: 19 bar
Permissible difference between all cylinders: 5 bar
–  Fit all the pre-heating plugs with articulated spanner -U-40082- Tightening torques: 15 Nm.
–  Consulting fault memory; Interrogating and erasing fault memory of engine control unit. → VAS 5051 vehicle self-diagnosis, → Chapter
  Note!
On uncoupling the connectors to the injector pump, faults will me recorded. Thus, it is necessary to consult the fault memory and erase if necessary.
