Checking process
Checking process
–  Switch off ignition.
   
–  Remove engine cover in the -direction of the arrow-.
–  Disconnect the grey connector for the engine speed sender -G28-.

–  Connect multimeter -V.A.G 1526 A- (resistance measurement) to contacts 1 and 2 of connector -2-, using measuring cable -V.A.G 1594 C-. Specification: 1.0...1.6 kΩ
If the specification is not obtained:
–  Replace engine speed sender -G28-. → Rep. Gr.13
If the specification is obtained:
  E23-0078
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/31- to control unit wiring harness. The engine control unit remains disconnected.
  E23-0084
–  Check wiring between test box and 3-pin connector for open circuit using current flow diagram. Contact 1+socket 102 Contact 2+socket 110 Contact 3+socket 86 Wire resistance: 1,5 Ω Max.
–  Check 3-pin connector cables for short circuit, using current flow diagram Specification: ∞ Ω
If no wiring fault is detected:
–  Replace diesel direct injection control unit -J248- → Anchor.
