Projection measurement of the piston at "TDC": measure
Projection measurement of the piston at "TDC": measure
  Note
Piston projection at „TDC“ must be measured when installing new pistons or a short engine.
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Measuring device -VW 382/7-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Retaining plate for measurement -VW 385/17-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Dial gauge -VAS 6079-

Checking sequence
–  Secure dial gauge -VAS 6079- with measuring bridge -VW 382/7- and measuring plate -VW 385/17- to cylinder block as shown in the illustration.
–  Measure piston projection at two points marked with -arrows- for each piston.
  Note
If the measured values for piston projection are not the same for all pistons, use the highest value to determine the correct gasket size.
–  Depending on piston projection, install corresponding cylinder head gasket according to following table:
  A13-10694
Piston projection above top surface of cylinder block
mm
