Checking fuel pressure regulating valveN276 > < Installing high-pressure lines

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Pressure gauge K-Jetronic -V.A.G 1318-, see equivalent → Anchor
Test prerequisites
l  Battery voltage min. 12.5 V
l  Fuel filter OK.
l  Fuel tank: full, at least 1/2 full.
l  Ignition switched off

Checking residual pressure
–  Remove engine cover panel -arrows-.
  Caution
Risk of malfunctions caused by dirt.
Observe → Chapter „Rules for cleanliness and instructions for working on fuel system“.
To reduce the pressure in the fuel system, wrap a clean cloth around the connection and carefully loosen the connection.

–  Release hose clip and detach fuel supply line -arrow- from high-pressure pump.

–  Connect K-Jetronic pressure tester -V.A.G 1318- to fuel supply line -2- with suitable adapter -3-.
–  Connect second hose -1- (from -V.A.G 1318-) to open connection on high-pressure pump, as shown in illustration below.

In this way the K-Jetronic pressure tester -V.A.G 1318- is connected into the fuel supply line.
–  Connect a diagnosis tester.
–  Switch on ignition.
–  Select „Engine electronics“ in vehicle self-diagnosis.
–  Then select „Basic setting“.
–  Select „Checking fuel system pressurisation pump“ from the list.
–  Keep the fuel pumps running until the maximum fuel pressure has been reached.
l  Specification: minimum 3.5 bar
If specification is not obtained:
t  Leak in union between pressure gauge and fuel line
t  Leak in pressure tester
t  Leak in fuel lines and their connections
t  Fuel filter is blocked.
–  Check delivery rate of fuel pump → Chapter.

Check fuel system for leaks.
