Safety precautions when working on fuel supply system
Safety precautions when working on fuel supply system
When working on the fuel system note the following warnings:
  WARNING
Injury risk! The fuel is subject to pressure!
Wrap a cloth around the connection before opening the fuel system. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection.
The fuel can become extremely hot. This can cause injuries.
t  In extreme cases the temperature of the fuel lines and the fuel can be up to 100 °C after the engine is switched off. Allow the fuel to cool down before disconnecting the lines - danger of scalding.
t  Wear protection gloves.
t  Wear eye protection.
Observe the following points to prevent personal injuries and damage to the injection and glow plug system:
t  Always switch off the ignition before connecting or disconnecting tester cables or electrical wiring for the injection or glow plug system.
t  Always switch off ignition before washing engine.
t  Events will be stored in the engine control unit if electrical connectors have been unplugged and the engine started: Interrogate event memory in Vehicle self-diagnosis → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
  Caution
When disconnecting the battery there is a risk of serious damage to electronic components:
t  Observe the correct procedure for disconnecting the battery.
t  Always switch off the ignition before disconnecting the battery.
