Removing and installing engine bracket
Removing and installing engine bracket
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Support bracket -U-30025F-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
t  Spring-type clip pliers -VAS 6362-
Removing
–  Remove engine cover.
–  Remove the intake pipe between air mass meter -G70- and the exhaust gas turbocharger.
–  Remove fuel filter.

–  Set up support bracket -U-30025F- with necessary adapters as illustrated and support engine in installation position.
  Note
  E15-10102
The Adapter -U-30025/5B- of the support bracket must be inserted with the rubber blocks in the direction of the wing. Front application point in the area of the screw of the retaining plate of the front end.
  Note
t  When removing the assembly mounting, the engine must be supported using the device U-30025F.
t  The engine bracket must be loosened only when the assembly mounting has been removed.

–  Loosen bolts -B-. Remove bolts -1A- and -C-.
–  Unscrew bolts -B- and remove engine assembly mounting.

–  Unscrew the fixing screw of the coolant pipe -arrows-.
–  Remove front right wheel housing liner → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.

–  Remove securing bolt of lower coolant line -arrow-.
  WARNING
When raising and lowering engine using support bracket -U-30025F-, ensure that no components or hoses are damaged, overstretched or torn off.
  Note
The securing bolt -1- is accessible through an aperture in the wheel housing. If necessary, raise and lower engine using spindle of support bracket -U-30025F- to remove or start bolts -2- and -3-.

–  Remove securing bolts from engine bracket in sequence -3…1-.
–  Remove engine bracket upwards.
Installing
Installation is in the reverse sequence of removal. Observe the following:
  Caution
The tightening sequence and specified torques for the engine bracket securing bolts must always be followed. Otherwise the engine bracket can be stressed, causing it to break.
–  Insert engine bracket from above.
  Note
The securing bolt -1- is accessible through an aperture in the wheel housing. If necessary, raise and lower engine using spindle of support bracket -U-30025F- to remove or start bolts -2- and -3-.
–  First tighten new securing bolts hand-tight in sequence -1 … 3-.

Tightening sequence for engine bracket
–  Retighten securing bolts in tightening sequence to prescribed specified torque → Item.

–  Position engine assembly mounting and first tighten bolts -A-, then -C-. Specified torque
–  Next bring engine bracket into contact with assembly mounting using spindle.
–  Apply and tighten the bolt -B-. Specified torque
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the dismantling sequence. Observe the following:
t  Ensure that fuel hose connections are tight.
t  Do not interchange supply line and return line (return line blue or with blue marking, supply line black).
