Removing and installing tank for reduction agent   Note To keep the following description as short as possible the „NOx reduction agent AUS 32“ (AdBlue®) is just called a reduction agent.   WARNING t  The reduction agent can irritate skin, eyes and respiratory organs. t  After skin contact with this agent, wash immediately with plenty of water. t  If necessary seek advice from a doctor. Removing –  Emptying tank for reduction agent → Chapter. –  Remove rear bumper → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.63. –  Remove rear left wheel → Running gear; Rep. gr.44. –  Remove rear left wheel housing liner → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.   Caution Protect separated electrical connections against wetting from reduction agent by suitable means, e.g. plastic bag and cable ties. Electrical connections may be damaged due to the high penetration ability along with subsequent crystallisation of the reduction agent.

–  Remove connector -A- from bracket and disconnect.

–  First press securing clip for line connection -B- together in direction of -arrow 1.- as shown, and pull off delivery line in direction of -arrow 2.- without tools and without »jerking«.   Caution Immediately seal all openings and connections using suitable plugs to stop ingress of dirt. The smallest particle of dirt can cause extensive damage to the system. Protect separated electrical connections against wetting from reduction agent by suitable means, e.g. plastic bag and cable ties. Electrical connections may be damaged due to the high penetration ability along with subsequent crystallisation of the reduction agent.

Disconnect connectors -arrows- from reduction agent tank.

–  Place engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- under reduction agent tank.

–  Remove seal of filler neck -1- in wheel housing from hole in body.

–  Undo bolt -arrow- in area of rear axle.

–  Remove bolts -arrows- in side section. –  Carefully lower reduction agent tank, taking care not to damage filler neck. Installing   Note Ensure all components are installed on tank for reduction agent, the upper insulation is fitting exactly and that no lines are squashed. –  Carefully raise tank for reduction agent using engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- until securing bolts can be fitted. –  Tighten securing bolts. Specified torque → Chapter. –  Reconnect electrical wiring and delivery line, and clip them into respective retainers. –  Install rear bumper → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.63. –  Install rear left wheel housing liner → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66. –  Fit rear left wheel → Running gear; Rep. gr.44. –  Fill reduction agent tank → Booklet701.
