Removing and installing fuel filter Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter. Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Base -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor Removal: Observe safety precautions → Chapter. Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.

–  Remove the engine cover upwards -arrows-.   WARNING t  The fuel system is pressurised. Before opening the system place a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection. t  The temperature of the fuel lines or the fuel may reach up to 100 ºC in extreme cases. Before opening the duct connections, allow the fuel to cool otherwise there is a risk of severe burns. t  Wear protection gloves. t  Wear eye protection. –  Unscrew the securing bolts of the engine coolant tank, and remove the tank.

–  Disconnect the connector -2-, undo the bolt -3- and remove the pressure differential sender -G505- with bracket in the direction of the -arrow-.   Note Disregard item -1-.

–  Unhook the fuel hoses -1, 2, 3- from the bracket -4-.   Note Ignore positions -1- and -2-.

–  Press release tab and unplug electrical connector -1-. –  Undo the bolts -3, 4- and place the bracket -2- for the fuel pump to one side.

–  Separate the fuel return line -1- and fuel supply line -2- by pressing on the release tabs.   Note Ignore positions -3- and -4-.

–  Remove fuel supply hose -6- (white marking) and fuel return hose -5- (blue marking) from fuel filter. –  Remove bracket -4- for coolant hose. –  Slacken bolt -1- a few turns. –  Remove bolt -2- and nut -3-. –  Install the fuel filter -7- with its hoses. Installation Installation is carried out in the reverse order, noting the following:   Note Secure all screw joints with serial hose clips → Spare parts catalogue. –  Carefully hook the fuel filter into the bracket. –  Connect the supply and return hoses onto the fuel filter according to the markings. –  Bleed fuel system → Chapter.
