| Use engine oils which comply with standard VW 501 01, 502 00, 503 00 or 504 00 → Booklet301. |
| Pre-requisite for checking the oil level |

| Engine oil temperature: at least 60 C |
| l
| The vehicle must be on an absolutely even surface. |
| l
| Wait a few minutes after switching off the engine to allow the oil to flow back into the sump. |
| Checking the oil level: process |
| –
| Pull out the oil dipstick, wipe off with a clean cloth and insert it again as far as it will go. |
| –
| Pull out the dipstick again and read off the oil level. |
